HANOI/ VIET NAM

Our first project supports the national child hospital in Hanoi/Viet Nam.

There, even most elementary things are missing. Dr. Dung, our contact person, that we place absolute confidence in, is the responsible chief of the department for premature bornes and newborn children in this hospital. There often over 100 babies fight for surviving on closest area.

In this hospital, by honorary employment of some physicians, a respiratory machine for earlyborn babies has been developed. This device is aligned to the special conditions of vietnamese hospitals. This equipment costs over 3.000 Euros, if it´s imported from Europe or the US. The vietnamese self-built is only 700 USD (around 550 Euros).With only one of these respiratory devices, it´s possible to save up to 20 children´s lives per year.

Moreover, incubators are urgently needed in the National Children Institute. So far, the premature born´s room was simply excessively heated.

Additionally, we struggle for better treatment and prevention of jaundice. Parents quite often bring their children much too late to the hospital. That behaviour can cause dramatic consequences for example Cerebral pareses (brain damage).

Our goal is, to equip at least (maybe more later) Dr. Dung´s department in such a way, that the mortality, particularly within the first 24 hours after birth, can significantly be lowered.
